U.S. Embassy Recruiting Delegation to SelectUSA Investment Summit

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The U.S. Embassy is leading a delegation from the UAE to the sixth annual SelectUSA Investment Summit, which is scheduled to take place June 10-12 in Washington, D.C. The Summit is a high-profile event that connects international companies and U.S. economic development organizations (EDOs) facilitating business investment in the United States.

“The SelectUSA Investment Summit is the single best venue for global companies to discover how tax reform, regulatory reduction, and other pro-growth Trump Administration policies have made the United States an even more attractive destination for business investment,” said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross.

Attendees will hear from government and industry leaders about opportunities in key sectors including infrastructure, energy, and advanced manufacturing. The three-day event will include dozens of seminar sessions on different aspects of investment, an exhibition hall full of economic development organizations and service providers that support investors, and an online matchmaking tool to facilitate new business connections. There will also be ample opportunity for networking.

The previous five Investment Summits attracted thousands of international investors, with the 2018 Summit alone attracting more than 3,000 total attendees, including investors from 66 countries. Additionally, the Investment Summits that were held in 2013-2017 garnered more than $71 billion of new investment projects in the United States.

“Our bilateral relationship is very strong and people-to-people connections and relationships, over time, have bolstered the partnership between our governments. The SelectUSA Investment Summit is another unique opportunity to connect UAE business leaders to the opportunities, information, destinations, and key officials necessary to start, strengthen and enhance investment relationships in the United States,” said U.S. Charge d’Affaires Steve Bondy. “We were especially pleased that His Excellency Minister of Economy Sultan Al Mansouri led the UAE delegation to the Summit, highlighting the importance of this event.”

With over $3.7 trillion of investment, in total, the United States is the largest recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the world. The United States is a global leader in innovation and research and development, and foreign companies are attracted to the United States due to its large consumer market; a stable, transparent, and fair business environment; strong intellectual property rights; and its educated workforce.
