The United States is Nicaragua’s largest trading partner. U.S. exports to Nicaragua totaled $1.3 billion in 2015. Nicaragua’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 4.9% in 2015 due largely to increased fixed investment, domestic consumption, and growing remittances. The Central Bank of Nicaragua forecasts GDP growth of 4.5% in 2016 and 2017.
