Our keynote speaker, Kevin Mellott, will speak on
economic espionage countermeasures and how to protect your business
Kevin Mellott has over 42 years of experience in the field of public safety. Prior to founding ERASE Enterprises, he was an Assistant Chief in the Department of Public Safety for the City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He supervised several special investigation units including the Bomb & Arson Strike Team which was a multi-agency team of federal, state, and local investigators.
Mr. Mellott is internationally recognized as an expert in public safety and special investigations. He has provided training for thousands in industry and government as well as having been selected as the lead instructor for numerous special projects for the United States Military and Law Enforcement Agencies. Outside the United States, Mr. Mellott has conducted specialized training, investigations and security programs throughout the world. His experience includes operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Hong Kong (SAR), South Africa, Egypt, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Argentina, and many other locations. He has worked in many special program areas for the US government including the NASA Space Shuttle Program, the USAF B-2 Stealth Bomber program, and as a Special Operations Advisor to the Military District of Washington DC. Mr. Mellott is a published author and has served as a technical consultant for the Smithsonian Magazine on issues of public safety. Mr. Mellott has conducted hundreds of investigations on issues ranging from incidents of terrorism to cybersecurity attacks. He has provided economic espionage countermeasure services for both government and private sector organizations and routinely gives briefings to key executives on the topics of Terrorism, CyberSecurity, Personal Security, Economic Espionage, and International Travel Security. Kevin also serves as an active member with the FBI sponsored private sector outreach program InfraGard.
Annie is the president of Stellato Consulting and has held various positions supporting national security over the last 15 years. She has an extensive background in security policies, regulations and processes as they apply to collateral security clearances, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access, and Special Access Programs (SAP) for both Government entities and Cleared Defense Contractors. Her professional background provides her with a level of expertise in security clearance cases that is unparalleled within the National Security Law practice industry. Annie has a distinct calling to serve others by leveraging her experience to provide our clients with the edge needed to successfully combat any facet of national security.
While serving in the Army, Annie was stationed in Germany, Iraq and Texas serving as an Intelligence Analyst, Targeting Officer, Security Manager, and Special Security Officer (SSO). As a civilian she has served in positions with Cleared Defense Contractors and Government entities as an Intelligence Analyst, Adjudicator and Program Security Officer (PSO). Not only has Annie served in positions as the decision authority involving personnel security clearances but she has also developed and delivered a multitude of security education briefings reaching countless Cleared Defense Contractors and Military Commands around the world.
Annie lives in Newark, Texas with her husband and 4 children. Her and her husband also own and operate Texas LoneStar Basketball, which is a select basketball organization that focuses on developing young athletes who aspire to obtain scholarships and play basketball at the collegiate level. In her spare time she enjoys being a mom and exploring her artistic sensibility through painting and photography.
Principal, Docent Systems
Born in Belgrade, Ana Snyder came to the United States as a 17 year-old high school transfer student. Over two decades, she has immersed herself in a breadth of aspects within the information technology sector and has become recognized as having in-depth expertise with IT infrastructure and network security.
Ana started as a Network Management Analyst at Pier 1 Imports before moving to the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC), where she became intimately familiar with transactional/payment platforms and the global financial clearing environment. During her tenure at DTCC she worked as a Network Engineer and was handling both domestic and international network connectivity between DTCC and participant banks, as well as the clearing houses.
After receiving her MBA from the Southern Methodist University, she worked in a leadership capacity with an outsourced managed services provider and led a team of Technical Account Managers. During 2016, she founded her own Managed Services company, Docent Systems, which concentrates on helping companies develop, implement and manage more secure business practices.
Protective Intelligence Analyst, StratFor
Jonathan “JP” Phillippe is a Protective Intelligence Analyst with Stratfor, a geopolitical analysis firm that provides global awareness and guidance to individuals, governments and businesses around the world. In this role, Jonathan specializes in the analysis of terrorism and crime with a focus on developing customized strategies for protecting personnel and assets.
Before joining Stratfor, Jonathan was the International Security Manager for a Dallas-based multinational NGO. In this position, he was responsible for protective security and crisis management in over 50 countries while also serving as Chairman of a common interest council for the U.S. State Department’s Overseas Security Advisory Council. Prior to moving to Texas, Jonathan resided in the Washington D.C. area where he worked on the security team of a government contractor and also served as an Emergency Medical Technician.
In his free time, Jonathan serves as a Family Support Volunteer with Hostage US. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and International Politics from George Mason University and a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Certified Ethical Hacker, Docent Systems
Kim Jones is a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and a seasoned Information Technology professional with almost three decades of experience in Networking and Cyber Security across a variety of segments including medical devices, software development for flight controls, school sector interconnectivity, and the financial sector. Kim has extensive background in network operations, telecom network management and has consulted for companies on compliance strategy, audit policy and cyber security positioning. She started her career programming flight controls for the F-16. Later, Kim moved to Fort Sill, where she was responsible for auditing military networks and server infrastructure to prepare them for security audits.
As a young entrepreneur, Kim founded an Internet Service Provider business and became one of the first to offer wireless access to the business and home users. Currently, Kim is a part of the founding team for Docent Systems, and is responsible for setting the IT strategy for multiple SMB companies around the DFW area.
Supervisor, ERASE Enterprises
Ross Stewart is a Supervisor with ERASE Enterprises and works in the Armed Security Services, Technical Surveillance Countermeasures, and Investigations Divisions. He has a B.A degree in International Studies-International Security and Diplomacy from the University of North Texas. Ross has extensive experience in the field of video signal collection, analysis, and editing and is proficient with both fixed and mobile systems. Ross is multi-lingual, practices various martial art forms, and is the owner of Ross Stewart Photography located in the Dallas Metroplex.
Dr. David Grantham
Senior Fellow, National Center for Policy Analysis
David A. Grantham, Ph.D., is the Senior Fellow of National Security at the National Center for Policy Analysis and leading expert in national security matters and international affairs with specializations in Latin America and the Middle East. Dr. Grantham’s expertise engages the nation’s most pressing issues, like terrorism, international security and military affairs. Dr. Grantham’s research offers timely solutions on problems ranging from defense spending and cyber protection to terrorist finance and regional security strategies.
Prior to his work at NCPA, Dr. Grantham served as an officer in the United States Air Force and as a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI). While on active duty, Dr. Grantham conducted and managed counterintelligence and counterterrorism investigations and operations, both stateside and abroad. Dr. Grantham led efforts in areas of anti-terrorism, cyber defense and foreign espionage, and deployed twice to Afghanistan and Iraq in support of AFOSI operations.
Dr. Grantham holds a PhD in Modern History from Texas Christian University and a Master of Science in International Relations from Troy University. He earned his Bachelor of Art in History from University of South Florida in 2004.
Robert Haldeman is currently the Supervisory Special Agent under Homeland Security Investigations, Office of the Special Agent in Charge Dallas, for Intellectual Property Rights, Trade Secrets, and Trade Based Money Laundering. Mr. Haldeman is a 27 year Special Agent who has worked in many national and international offices to include but not limited to; Tucson, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas and Washington D.C. He has extensive overseas experience working in North & South America and Asia.
Mr. Haldeman began his federal career in 1988 as an intern with the U.S. Border Patrol in Tucson, Arizona. In 1990, he began his Special Agent career in Los Angeles, CA. As a Special Agent he has successfully prosecuted numerous criminals for Fraud, Money Laundering, Narcotics, Human Trafficking, and Terrorism to name a few.
Mr. Haldeman was promoted to a Supervisory Special Agent in 1998 in San Antonio, TX. Mr. Haldeman is a native of West Palm Beach, Florida and is a graduate of the University of Arizona, with a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration.
Raul Orona is currently the Chief U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officer for Trade Operations at the Area Port of Dallas for the Office of Field Operations (OFO) within CBP. Mr. Orona is a 14 year U.S. Government employee who currently oversees Cargo Operations, User Fee Facilities (UFF), Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), customs bonded facilities and other support areas for eight outer ports of entry extending from Tulsa, Oklahoma to San Antonio, Texas.
Mr. Orona began his federal career in 2002 as a U.S. Customs Inspector in Tacoma, Washington and merged into CBP as an Officer in March of 2003. As an officer he worked under the Outbound Enforcement Team, enforcing export regulations. During that time he found export enforcement to be challenging and a rewarding assignment.
Mr. Orona worked his way up through the ranks, Supervisory CBP Officer to Chief CBP Officer. Mr. Orona is a native of El Paso, Texas and is a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
