Deep Dive Sessions and Networking Lunch at Pittsburgh Startup Global
The Startup Global initiative is a U.S. Department of Commerce pilot program announced by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker earlier this year as both a baseline outreach program and a series of information sessions to help more startup firms think global from the earliest stages of company growth. The pilot program has garnered tremendous support since its first event at 1776; a local business incubator in Washington, D.C., and with Nashville, Tennessee and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania serving as the second and third pilot locations respectively and Arlington, Texas rounding out the year, Startup Global seems to be hitting its mark with startup companies.
Secretary Pritzker, a strong proponent of Startup Global, noted the potential impact of this program, adding that “This is the first time the Department of Commerce has partnered with business incubators and the startup community to provide the know-how and technical assistance they need to export their goods and services to the 95 percent of global consumers outside the United States.” These Startup Global pilot events will not only provide direct assistance to startups, but also collect data and measure demand to inform the creation of a national program with the goal of supporting innovators and entrepreneurs across the country in pursuing global opportunities as domestic startups.
