The United States Department of Commerce is organizing a Clean Energy and Zero Emission Vehicle Technologies Business Development Mission to Mexico City, the State of Mexico and Puebla on November 17-22. This trade mission will expand business opportunities for U.S. exporters of clean energy products, services and technologies by connecting them with Mexican automakers (OEMs), tier 1 and 2 suppliers and potential partners, as well as federal, state and city government contacts.

Why Mexico?

The Mexican government plans to decrease greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2020 and increase electricity generated from clean sources to 50 percent by 2050. The administration is pursuing mobility initiatives to drastically reduce emissions including the replacement of private and public transportation. In 2018, the Mexican government exempted electric and hybrid vehicles from local taxes and emission control verification processes in several states.

Electric and hybrid vehicles sales in Mexico grew by 27 percent in 2017 and 68 percent in 2018, surpassing 17,800 units sold. Automotive OEMs and tier 1 and 2 suppliers are increasingly looking for sustainable technologies, products and services to manufacture electric and hybrid vehicles.

Who should participate?

We welcome U.S. suppliers of clean energy technologies, energy storage, batteries, catalyzers, electric chargers, charger ports, electric motors, motor drives, on-board chargers, battery power converters, power electronic controllers, renewable energy, energy efficiency solutions and more to participate.

Trade Mission Program

This 4-day program will include matchmaking appointments in Mexico City and the states of Mexico and Puebla; participation in a conference with government and industry speakers including roundtable discussions on energy, automotive and standards; automotive and wind power plant visits; and a networking reception organized by the U.S. Embassy.
