Event Summary:
Ecuador, an Andean country of over 17 million, offers promising market opportunities. Ecuador has also made recent advances in its trade relationship with the United States, signing the Protocol on Trade Rules and Transparency in December 2020. Further deepening of economic ties, for which there exists significant political will, depends on Ecuador carrying out needed reforms to open its economy to investment and reduce trade barriers. Best prospect sectors for U.S. exporters include ICT, oil and refining, power generation, infrastructure, mining, waste management, water, education, manufacturing, franchising, licensing, telecommunications, and digital economy.
