Hong Kong VEF Results in Signed Agent Agreements for Nevada Community College

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) has been a client of the U.S. Commercial Service in Reno, ever since they hosted agents from the Thai International Education Consultants Association (TIECA) in September 2016, as part of a USCS supported reverse (education) TM to the Western United States. The reverse TM resulted in the signing of an agent agreement to recruit Thai students to attend TMCC. Since then, TMCC has actively utilized USCS counseling and events (e.g., Virtual Education Fairs (VEFs), webinars, trade fairs, market intelligence, etc.) to help bolster their international student recruitment. In 2017, TMCC participated in a VEF hosted by U.S. Commercial Service Hong Kong. The VEF provides a low-cost/highly engaging mechanism for TMCC and other schools to recruit students from Hong Kong using a virtual platform of engagement. Qualified student recruiters based in Hong Kong were invited to the U.S. Embassy to participate in the VEF.

As a result of its participation in the VEF, Natalie Brown, Director of International Student Services for TMCC reported signing agreements with three new agents to facilitate recruitment of students to attend TMCC.

“The VEF Hong Kong was one of the best programs I have participated in to-date. It was well organized, well attended, and we have already started on our follow-up with the participating agents and have 3 signed agreements. Lots of active dialogue and good potential for new students this fall. In general, the Virtual Education Fairs are a great way to reach a wide audience to test out new markets and gain more brand awareness on a budget.” – Natalie Brown, Director of Student Services, TMCC
