Virtual Education Fairs

You are cordially invited to participate in our upcoming Virtual Education Fairs (VEF) in countries from around the world. Each VEF is limited to six appropriately accredited U.S. Private High Schools, Boarding Schools, and 4-year Colleges and Universities. The most reputable and best performing agents from targeted markets will visit the U.S. Consulates or Embassies in each country listed to listen and watch the presentations of the schools participating in the fairs. Using web conferencing technology, your school will be able to conduct a 10-minute presentation via PowerPoint to an audience of no less than 10 of the top agents during the fair. Please note that the majority of educational institutions, which participated in our 2017 and 2018 virtual education fairs with Taiwan, Hong Kong, SE Europe, China, India, the Philippines, and several other countries, reported increases in student enrollments from the countries as a result of the events.

Hong Kong Spring 2019 Virtual Education Fair – Thursday, March 28, 2019

Connecting U.S. Institutions of Higher Learning with Student Recruiters

This fair will focus on undergraduate programs (four-year schools only). Undergraduate programs (4-year colleges and universities only) with strong programs in the STEM fields are sought by Hong Kong Students.

NOTE: Hong Kong will host additional virtual education fairs throughout the year to reach different programs, including community colleges, graduate programs, as well as high schools/boarding schools.

The U.S. Commercial Service is pleased to offer U.S. colleges and universities an opportunity to meet student recruiting agents in Hong Kong without traveling overseas. This Virtual Education Fair (VEF) with Hong Kong will offer you the opportunity to “virtually” engage with qualified student recruiters located in Hong Kong. As a bonus, the U.S. Commercial Service in Hong Kong will also encourage students and/or high school counselors in and around Hong Kong to listen to the presentations.

Why Hong Kong?

With 7,547 Hong Kong students studying in the United States during the 2016/2017 academic year, Hong Kong ranked in the top 25 places of origin for international students in the United States. More than half of these students are undergraduate students.

Hong Kong’s university selection process is extremely competitive. Only 18% of Hong Kong applicants gain admission to local Universities. As such, there is tremendous interest in studying abroad.

Many Hong Kong high school graduates believe that a U.S. education will boost their job prospects in Hong Kong. Local parents are also beginning to recognize the academic excellence of colleges outside the Ivy League.

Hong Kong parents commonly employ education agents to search for appropriate schools and provide other related services. U.S. schools should consider partnering with several agents in Hong Kong who can promote your school and recruit students.
