Trade Americas’ Team 2018 Latin America Infrastructure Webinar Series

Join the U.S. Department of Commerce Trade Americas and Design & Construction Global Teams for a Webinar to learn more about the upcoming infrastructure projects in Colombia, Peru and Panama.

Colombia, Peru, and Panama all have serious infrastructure gaps, driving major public and private investments in infrastructure projects. The countries are looking for U.S. construction, engineering and technology companies to participate in the projects. The countries are some of the most stable, high-growth markets in the region. Each also has a free-trade agreement with the United States. These agreements have eliminated tariffs and non-tariff barriers, opened up public procurement processes to U.S. companies, and provide investor protections, making them especially attractive trade and investment destinations.

Infrastructure is expected to be one of Colombia's best performing sectors, with a forecast annual growth of 4.7% (2018-2026). The government's endorsement of the PPP model as a means of procuring infrastructure is supporting an active concessions market. Upcoming electrical infrastructure projects in Colombia include new opportunities in natural gas, grid-connected unconventional renewables (solar PV, geothermal, wind), and new electric power transmission projects.

Meanwhile Panamanian infrastructure investments continues to boost the economy with an estimated U$9.6 billion worth of projects in the pre-construction phases. Panama’s electrical sector is expected to grow by 5.5 to 6.0% annually with an LNG terminal and a hydroelectric plant are under construction and plans to develop renewable energy projects.

Peru has a $120 billion infrastructure gap and has appropriated over $6 billion for reconstruction projects related to the 2017 El Nino natural disasters. The 2019 Pan American Games will be held in Lima, which will need to improve and construct facilities for the games.
