Over 350 guests gathered at Discover Global Markets: U.S. Manufacturers to Europe and Beyond last week in Cleveland, Ohio. Erin Walsh, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets and Director General of the U.S. Commercial Service, addressed the crowd Tuesday morning to stress the importance of free and fair trade in promoting U.S. exports.

 

U.S. Commercial Service staff from the U.S. Department of Commerce held over 250 one-on-one counseling sessions with U.S. companies, in addition to facilitating over 50 meetings between manufacturing original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and prospective small business suppliers.

 

This Discover Global Markets event had several unique aspects, including:

  • A free search engine optimization consultation for guests. Each company with a list of actionable steps to elevate their website into a channel for international sales.
  • One-on-one meetings between aerospace, automotive, and advanced manufacturing OEMs and small businesses looking to enter their global supply chain.
  • A special flyover from the Goodyear Blimp, which featured scrolling messages that welcomed Discover Global Markets guests and sponsors, along with slogans about export promotion.
