Rebecca Torres is currently serving as the Deputy Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv. There she manages a staff that assists U.S. businesses find Israeli partners. She also manages many gubernatorial and congressional visits, coordinating activities with the Ambassador as well as strategic Israeli partner organizations. She also coordinates foreign direct investment activity into the U.S. under the SelectUSA program.

Previously, Rebecca was the U.S. Commercial Service Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City from June of 2013-2015, where she assisted and counseled companies with U.S. products and services. Rebecca’s staff focused on the automotive, tourism, education and franchising sectors and assisted in providing U.S. companies with information to facilitate doing business in Mexico City. She also led the country wide effort for all matters related to SelectUSA.

Before her arrival in Mexico City, Rebecca was posted at the Tampa Bay Export Assistance Center of the U.S. Department of Commerce in Clearwater, Florida from September of 2010 until March of 2013, where she helped small and medium sized companies develop export strategies for their U.S. products and services. She also assisted exporters of Marine Technology and Aviation and Aerospace for the entire Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida areas.

Prior to joining the Commercial Service, Rebecca worked for 6 years as a Regional Manager for Enterprise Florida, the state’s economic development agency. While with Enterprise Florida, she assisted and led many Export Sales Missions for the State of Florida to all of Central America, Colombia and Brazil. She also worked with Florida companies attending medical and marine shows in Germany and Dubai, helping them to promote their products and services abroad.

Rebecca spent over 25 years in Global Logistics as well as International Trade Compliance in the San Francisco Bay Area’s “Silicon Valley”. She has held positions in the technology sector with companies such as Apple Computer, Hewlett Packard and 3Com.

Rebecca holds a BA in Spanish and French from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California as well as various certifications in Import and Export Regulatory Compliance.
