Vital Signs Black Bar

Michelle Schulz is a founder and co-chair of Gardere’s International Trade Group and co-chair of the firm’s International Practice Group.  As a leading authority in the international trade and compliance arena, Michelle represents a variety of corporations in matters relating to compliance with U.S. and international regulations such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, the U.S. Export Administration Regulations, and the various sanctions and embargo programs administered by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control.  Under the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Michelle serves on the President’s Export Council Subcommittee for Export Administration, a senior-level advisory body to the U.S. Department of Commerce and, in particular, its Bureau of Industry and Security.  She holds a secret level security clearance.  For over 15 years, Michelle has guided clients through the establishment of effective export and import compliance programs.  She has extensive experience in Customs fines, penalties, and forfeitures; export investigations; export license applications and agreements; and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act; and other aspects of international trade. Michelle speaks German and French.
