With a background in negotiating multimillion-dollar global contracts, Karen Dickinson, a Shareholder in the U.S. law firm of Polsinelli PC, has a passion for technology and international business and quickly becomes a trusted advisor to clients of all sizes, both domestic and international. For each matter, Karen utilizes her past experience as a division general counsel and as a supply management executive at a Fortune 100 company, and her own experience as an entrepreneur.

Karen acts as outside general counsel for United States companies and for companies investing in the United States from other countries. She negotiates technology transactions, from simple software licenses to complicated research and development agreements. Karen has extensive experience advising U.S. and international clients on joint ventures and alliances, technology licensing, product distribution, IP protection and licensing, website development, online contracting, e-commerce and data privacy. She also drafts and negotiates information technology system agreements and SaaS agreements, and related SLA, support, and source code escrow agreements.

Karen is former Chair of the Arizona District Export Council, a non-profit organization whose members are appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to advise Arizona businesses seeking to expand international business. She is currently a member of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council International Leadership Committee. After graduating magna cum laude from the Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law at Arizona State University, Karen clerked for Judge Mary M. Schroeder, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She was also awarded a Fulbright Scholarship during her career, studying European Union law at the University College London and working with a global law firm in London. Karen received her cum laude undergraduate degree from Duke University.

Karen’s distinctions include: listed in The Best Lawyers in America®, Information Technology Law, 2010-2017; included in Arizona Business Leaders 2017 magazine by AZ Big Media; included in “Who’s Who in Business” 2016 by Republic Media in Arizona; nominated for an ATHENA Award by the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, 2016; named one of the winners the 2015 “Outstanding Women in Business” award by the Phoenix Business Journal; named as one of the ”Top 100 Lawyers” in 2016 and 2015 by Arizona Business magazine; included among the "50 Most Influential Women in Arizona Business," by AZ Big Media, in 2014; named as one of the 2008 Top Ten "Centers of Influence Lawyers" by Arizona Business magazine. In addition, a transaction Karen led for a Chinese client was included in the “2014 Deals of the Year” by China Business Law Review.
