Juan Cardenas, Vice President of Sales and Applications Engineering, Caid Industries, joined the company 5 years ago and is one of the founders of the Automation division. CAID Automation designs and builds custom automated assembly lines for many different industries. About 40% of the equipment that CAID Automation manufactures is for companies located in Mexico and he travels there on a regular basis.

Juan was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. He grew up playing competitive tennis and was offered a tennis scholarship at McNeese State University in Louisiana, where he graduated as a Mechanical Engineer. After finishing college, Juan returned to Mexico to work as an Engineer for a heavy steel forging company and then for a CNC equipment distributor.

In 1988, Juan moved to Ontario, Canada and started his own company to help Canadian companies in the high tech industry export to Mexico and open manufacturing plants in Mexico. Five years later, one of his customers, ATS Automation Tooling System, offered him a full time position to help the company sell custom automated systems in Mexico and Latin America. He spent half his time in Mexico visiting different industries that would benefit from automation.

In 2006, ATS transferred Juan to its Tucson facility, where he continued to call on Mexican customers for the next three years. .

Juan is a member of the Executive Board of the Boys & Girls Club of Tucson, which provides a safe environment for children in poor neighborhoods. He also runs marathons.
