Commercial Service Prague will introduce American publishers to the Czech market at Book World Prague 2019 on May 9—12. The U.S. companies are seeking Czech partners interested in publishing selected American books in the Czech language. Representatives from CS Prague will be available at the Fair’s Business Center for discussions. April 4, 2019 / How to establish an integrated treatment protocol for obesity and diabetes?
The U.S. Embassy hosted a seminar organized by the Institute for Public Discussion where leading Czech doctors, representatives of the Ministry of Health, insurance companies and international obesity centers had an opportunity to discuss issues and remedies for obesity and Type 2 diabetes. Ambassador Stephen B. King, Commercial Counselor Christina Sharkey and other distinguished guests had an opportunity to learn more about the topics from top Czech medical specialists including Martin Prázný and Martin Matoulek, General Faculty Hospital Prague; Mojmír Kasalický, General Military Hospital Prague; and Ignace Janssen, The Dutch Obesity Clinic (NOK). Presentations were followed by a panel discussion featuring Štěpán Svačina, Czech Medical Society; Lenka Poliaková, Ministry of Health; Zdeňka Salcman Kučerová, ZPMV Health Insurance Company; Martin Hrubý, Liberec Regional Hospital; and Pavel Hroboň, Advance Healthcare Management Institute. The discussion was moderated by Miroslav Palát, CzechMed. Extreme obesity is not only a medical problem but also a social and economic challenge. It is considered to be the epidemic of the 21st century. Based on World Health Organization data up to 3,000,000 people worldwide die because of extreme obesity every year. February 22, 2019 / Czech and U.S. Companies Discus the Future of Autonomous Driving
The U.S. Embassy Prague in cooperation with the Ministry of Transportation, organized a round-table discussion on the future of autonomous driving. Ambassador King highlighted the role of a secure platform for digital communication and importance of this area for national security. Fifteen Czech and American companies provided insight into the technical, regulatory and policy issues the industry is currently facing. The round-table also highlighted the Czech autonomous car mission to California taking place in March, which is being organized by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and CzechInvest. February 12, 2019 / Commercial Counsellor Sharkey Welcomes NOW Foods Supplements to the Czech Republic
Commercial Counsellor Christina Sharkey welcomed the launch of NOW Foods’ supplements in the Czech market at a press event at the Emblem Hotel in Prague. Zlatica Majercikova, NOW Foods International Business Development Manager for Eastern Europe, detailed NOW Foods long development process and extensive history alongside their most successful products. The event moderated by Petra Spindlerova attracted a number of well-known guests from Czech showbusiness. The event was prepared by NOW Foods Czech partner Good Life Company that is preparing selected NOW Foods products for launch in the Rossmann drugstore chain. NOW Foods is headquartered in Bloomingdale, Illinois. The company celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018. NOW Foods manufacturers supplements, sports nutrition, and beauty and health products. Commercial Service of the U.S. Embassy Prague hosted a seminar organized by the Institute for Public Discussion on “Transparent and Sustainable Healthcare”. Ambassador Stephen King and Commercial Counselor Christina Sharkey gave remarks at the event where participants had an opportunity to hear presentations from top Czech medical specialists, including Josef Kautzner of IKEM, Ales Tomek of FN Motol, and Tomas Kovarnik of VFN. Presentations were followed by a panel discussion featuring Health Director of Oborova zdravotni pojistovna Jitka Vojtova, Executive Director of American Chamber of Commerce Weston Stacey, Country Director of Medtronic Michal Vondras, and Managing Partner of Advance Healthcare Management Institute Pavel Hrobon. The U.S. Embassy Prague organized a discussion with representatives of Czech travel agents, U.S. hotels and airlines. The meeting focused on promoting the U.S. as an attractive tourist destination. Last year the number of Czech tourists travelling to the U.S. hit 100,000. The most popular destinations included New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and the famous system of national parks. Starting this year, Czech tourists will have an opportunity to take advantage of three direct seasonal flights to the U.S. – New York – JFK with Delta Airlines, New York – Newark with United Airlines and Philadelphia with American Airlines. The U.S. Embassy Prague in cooperation with the Central Bohemia Region, organized a discussion on the SelectUSA Summit and market opportunities for Czech manufacturers and investors in the United States. Ambassador Stephen B. King highlighted the fact that the United States is world’s largest economy offering great business opportunities for Czech companies. Governor Pokorna Jermanova along with other 2018 SelectUSA Summit participants shared her experience from leading first-ever Czech delegation to the Summit.The SelectUSA Investment Summit is an annual event held to showcase the United States as the world’s premier investment destination. Investors have a chance to connect with U.S. economic development organizations (EDOs), federal government officials, and service providers who are all on hand to facilitate business investment and job creation.
