Panel: Connecting a Continent: The Modernized Grid in the European Union

Sonita Lontoh is the head of Global Corporate Marketing at Trilliant, a venture-backed Silicon Valley smart grid communications company. Ms. Lontoh focuses on educating consumers on the benefits of green technology in general, and smart grid/Internet of Things (IoT) in particular. She is an ardent advocate for the use of smart technology to promote better efficiency and sustainability. Ms. Lontoh came to Trilliant from Grid Net, a smart grid software company. Prior to Grid Net, Ms. Lontoh spent time at PG&E Corporation, the utility serving more than 15 million customers in California. At PG&E, Ms. Lontoh was involved in several strategic initiatives, including business transformation, smart grid/smart energy strategy, renewables, and others. Earlier in her career, Ms. Lontoh had a stint as a management consultant with Bain & Company, and spent several years in various Silicon Valley technology companies, including co-founding one of her own.

Outside of work, Ms. Lontoh is a co-founder of several nonprofit organizations that focus on promoting global cross collaborations in technology and leadership between the United States and other countries. She served as a mentor and selection committee member for TechWomen, a US State Department program spearheaded by former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to implement President Barack Obama’s vision of greater collaboration between the United States and global emerging leaders. Ms. Lontoh received the Diaspora Entrepreneurship and Corporate Excellence award from the Government of Indonesia and was named a Global Emerging Leader Under 40. She has been invited to the White House to attend an event to honor AAPI Women Champions of Change. She is a frequent speaker at conferences and has appeared in publications such as Forbes, CNN Money, TIME, Reuters, CBS, The Huffington Post, and several TV and radio stations.

Ms. Lontoh received her Master of Engineering from MIT, where she also cross-registered at the Harvard Business School, M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and B.S. in Engineering from UC Berkeley.
