Panel: Navigating Uncharted Waters: Assessing Emerging Business Risk Across the Supply Chain

Henry Russell (Russ) Drinker, Architect is a Senior Vice President and the Managing Principal of the San Francisco practice of HOK, joining the firm in 2012. Prior to joining HOK, Russ was the CEO of MBT Architecture, Inc. which was acquired by Perkins+Will in 2006, at which time he became the Managing Principal for the firm’s San Francisco office and the Regional Director of South East Asia. In addition to his experience as a practice leader, Russ brings over 30 years of project experience in architecture and planning, providing leadership on a broad range of large-scale, innovative, and technically challenging projects with an emphasis on sustainable design.

His portfolio is notable for its globally recognized research and academic campuses, including the Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE), 2013 Lab of The Year Award winning project for the National Research Foundation in Singapore, the Princess Noura University, a new 32 million square foot campus for 40,000 full-time female students, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as well as projects throughout the University of California system and Stanford University. Russ has also led Master Planning projects for Chevron, United States Embassies in Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mauritania, and Damascus, and a new Medical Sciences campus for King Saud University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Russ has been a guest speaker at conferences on technological innovations and sustainable design at the International Association of Science Parks (IASP), Association for University Research Parks (AURP), Laboratories for the 21st Century, Low Carbon Earth Summit, International Green Build Conference, Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), Tradeline, Bio-Asia and the One North Lab Design Seminar in Singapore.

Mr. Drinker has been identified as one of the 101 Leaders in Sustainable City-Making and Theory by Steffen Lehmann in his 2010 publication “The Principles of Green Urbanism”. Mr. Drinker is a Founding Member of the U.S. Resiliency Council and on the Executive Board of NaVorro Bowman’s 4th & Goal Foundation. He is a licensed architect in California and obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree with major in Architecture at the University of California Berkeley and Master’s Degree in Architecture from Columbia University in New York.

Russ and his wife, Deborah Holdeman, live in Oakland and enjoy travel and hiking, skiing, theatre and music. Their daughter, Eliza, is a sophomore studying neurosciences at McGill University in Montreal.
