Panel: Connecting a Continent: The Modernized Grid in the European Union

Claudia Colombo joined the Commercial Service at the U.S. Embassy in London in 2011 as a Commercial Specialist for Energy and Environment. She provides in-depth counseling to U.S. companies on business opportunities, market trends, and market entry/expansion strategies.

Prior to joining the U.S. Embassy, Dr. Colombo worked for URS Corporation as a Principal Project Manager where she oversaw high profile, multi-disciplinary projects, acting as the lead consultant on sustainable development and energy strategies, with special emphasis on policy analysis, and technical and economic viability.

Dr. Colombo is a certified Associate Project Manager and an active member of several leading associations within her field, including the Westminster Energy Forum, the UK Parliamentary and Scientific Committee, British-American Business and the Energy Futures Lab.

She graduated with a Bachelors and MSc Degree in Chemistry from the University of Milan, Italy. She went on to study a Master of Research Degree in Nanotechnologies at Imperial College London before completing her PhD in Engineering at the same institution.

Dr. Colombo is fluent in Italian and also has basic working knowledge of French and Spanish.
