UPS is conducting multiple UPS X-Port Challenges in 2016, competitive events that help local businesses connect to the world. This exclusive UPS competition gives your business the chance to showcase your product(s) and gain access to tools and resources you need to grow globally. Applicants can win $10,000 in export credits for their business from UPS! UPS and the U.S. Commercial Service have a long-standing Strategic Partnership to help U.S. companies grow their exports. Trans-Pacific Partnership and Opportunities in Southeast Asia

Please join the Mid-Atlantic Council and the U.S. Commercial Service-Philadelphia for a discussion on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement and opportunities in Southeast Asia. The TPP is the newest U.S. free trade agreement among 12 Pacific Rim countries. Once ratified this agreement will aid US workers and businesses in competing abroad; this includes eliminating over 18,000 taxes imposed on American exports! Ryan Hollowell, Regional Commercial Officer of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Digital Attaché for the U.S. Embassy in Singapore, will present on TPP and discuss the top markets and best prospects for U.S. firms looking to enter or expand in the region. In addition to this presentation, Mr. Hollowell will be holding one-on-one meetings to discuss specific opportunities in Singapore and ASEAN countries. The Great Trade Debate: A Frontline Perspective
Please join The Philadelphia World Affairs Council and Temple University’s Fox School of Business for an informational discussion on international trade. This is a particularly divisive topic as international trade has been a tenant of both campaigns in this year’s presidential election, with both candidates arguing the harmful effects of trade on the US standard of living. This event will aid in understanding new trade agreements and address what trade policy should look like in the next presidential administration.

Export University 2016-2017
Export University is a series of courses on exporting designed to give businesses the skills, strategies, and network of contacts that are necessary to expand sales globally. Whether you are new to exporting and need tools to begin and avoid costly mistakes, or are currently exporting but need guidance to further expand sales to foreign countries, the courses can give you the tools to succeed. Courses are designed in three levels to provide new or experienced exporters with the tools they need to effectively organize their export operations. The three levels include Export 101, for beginners, Export 201, for those already in business looking to refresh their knowledge, and Export 301, for executives interested in expanding their understanding of international trade.

MAURITIUS: An African Island Hub of Innovation & Entrepreneurship
A program for faculty, business professionals, and entrepreneurs from the United States and Mauritius with objectives to identify and train potential entrepreneurs in the region, identify policy interventions that will enable the ‘start-up’ ecosystem to flourish, enlarge the supply of entrepreneurs for rapid industrial development, and help develop high-growth and technology-based entrepreneurship. Topics to be discussed include Mauritius as a hub for African entrepreneurship, capacity building for local entrepreneurs, opportunities for U.S.-Mauritius trade, and infusing international entrepreneurship into the IB curriculum.
