Location/Date: Ottawa, Canada 05/10/2017 - 05/10/2017
Event Summary:
The Government of Canada's National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) is a C$38 billion modernization effort created to renew the fleets of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and of the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG). The program call for the construction of large combat and non-combat vessels, small vessels, and In-Service Support (ISS) contracts associated with each of the vessel types to be built in Canada.

The NSS brings opportunities for U.S. exporters to supply goods and services directly and indirectly (via joint-venture teaming) to prime contractors and their suppliers, government and academia partners.

You will learn strategies that address offset requirements in Canada as we introduce you to J.D. Irving's industrial construction and equipment division, Custom Fabricators and Machinists (CFM), an active partner under the National Shipbuilding Strategy.

CFM's current work ranges from machining and fabrication services to a variety of industries including shipbuilding and off-shore oil and gas. CFM is Controlled Goods Compliant and carries a NATO Security Clearance.

The second part of our program includes a presentation by Brian Botting, Principal at the Earnscliffe Strategy Group. Brian is a career veteran with decades of experience working federally in public policy and defence procurement.

Brian spent the last decade as a senior manager in the Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) Branch of Industry Canada (now known as Industry, Science and Economic Development - ISED,) where he managed the Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) policy under major air and naval defense procurements for Canada.
