China E-commerce at a Glance

Single's Day

E-commerce is the fastest growing portion of the retail sector in China, as the number of people shopping online and using mobile far outweigh any other county in the world. The total value of E-commerce sales in China has increased by 25% year-on-year in terms of total market value, reaching USD $2.1 trillion in 2014 according to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. Many foreign companies are now selling their products directly to Chinese consumers using E-commerce shopping websites, B2C online promotions and social media to enhance their brand image and reputation in China.

Social media in China

The importance of social media in China cannot be overstated. People make purchasing decisions based on word of mouth, not based on brand reputation. Companies need to recognize the importance of leveraging social media to promote their brand and raise brand awareness in China.
